In 2013, Maryland workers averaged the fifth highest salary in the nation. The average Maryland worker made $1,040 a week (gross income), slightly above the national average of $958.

As of January 2015, the minimum wage in Maryland for most workers is $8 an hour, while the federally-mandated minimum wage remains at $7.25 an hour. For tipped employees, the Maryland minimum cash-wage is $3.63 an hour.
