DEPARTMENT OF ANIMAL SERVICES
Created in 1977, Department of Animal Services enforced County's animal ordinances. In the County, Department issued licenses for cats and dogs, and inspected animal breeders, clinics, and shelters. In addition, animal control officers were employed to respond to animal emergencies, such as at-large domestic and nuisance animals, animal attacks or aggression, or animal endangerment or abuse (County Code, secs. 9-1 through 9-33).
Effective Sept. 9, 2013, functions of Dept. were privatized.
PARKS DIVISION
Reorganized as Parks and Public Landings Division under Department of Public Works.
TASK FORCE ON GOVERNMENT SUSTAINABILITY
Authorized and appointed by Board of County Commissioners on Dec. 28, 2010, Task Force on Government Sustainability met and concluded its work in 2011.
On April 12, 2011, Task Force submitted its recommendations to Board of County Commissioners.
