Member, U.S. Supreme Court, Fourth Circuit, District of Columbia Circuit, District of Columbia, Maryland State and Montgomery County Bar Associations; American Trial Lawyers Association. Co-counsel, Friendship Heights Village Council, 1980-87. State Executive Board, Cystic Fibrosis, 1992-. Co-Chair, Jim Palmer's Cystic Fibrosis Golf Tournament, 1993-96. Elizabeth Scull Community Service Award, Friendship Heights, 1988. Award, Maryland Municipal League, 1990. Annual Award, Cystic Fibrosis, 1992.
